Covid 19

COVID-19 Guidelines and Protocols:

To ensure the health and safety of our clients and staff we are following the guidelines and protocols as set out by the BC College of Occupational Therapists, the BC Provincial Health Officer, WorkSafe BC, and the BC Center of Disease Control.

We have developed the following policies, guidelines and procedures to reduce the risk of transmission of the Coronavirus.

  • Masks are Mandatory in the clinic. Please wear a face mask prior to entering the clinic. If you do not have a mask, we are able to provide one.
  • Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes prior to your appointment.
  • Please arrive for your appointment alone, unless you are a caregiver or accompanying a minor.
  • Do not enter the clinic if you are sick or required to self-isolate.

If you are unable to adhere to our in-person clinic guidelines, we can schedule you for a virtual, phone or online Telehealth appointment or reschedule your appointment.

Screening

Clients will be required to complete a self-assessment questionnaire prior to any appointment and upon your arrival to the clinic to screen for the following:

  • Symptoms in the last 14 days, including fever, shakes or chills, new or worsening cough, loss of sense of taste or smell, or sore throat.
  • Anyone who has recently been to a location (ex. work, community, long term care facility) that has experienced an outbreak.
  • Travel outside the province in the last 14 days.
  • Anyone who has been in contact of a confirmed or potential COVID-19 case needs to self isolate for 14 days and monitor for symptoms.

Physical Distancing

We have limited the number of clients in our clinic as well as the number of staff and deliveries entering the clinic and are staggering patient appointment times to prevent overlap of clients in hallways and waiting rooms. We will maintain a distance of 2 metres (6 feet) between staff/clinicians and clients whenever possible.  Plexiglass shields have been placed in the reception area and testing rooms.

Enhanced Cleaning/Disinfecting

All surfaces used during the day will be sanitized before and after use and between each client (ie: chairs, desktops, doorknobs, equipment, pens etc.).   All testing material used will be sanitized before and after use.

Effective Use of PPE

Masks are mandatory in the clinic. Please wear a face mask prior to entering the clinic. One will be provided for you if you do not have one.  Hand sanitizer is available in all areas/rooms in the clinic.

Hand Hygiene

Clients are asked to either wash their hands for 20 seconds upon entering the clinic or use the provided hand sanitizer, as well as wash their hands before and after any breaks or washroom use. All staff/clinicians will wash their hands for 20 seconds upon arrival to the clinic, before and after breaks or washroom use and before and after handling equipment.
